Delete Your Data
For Wordsicle on iPhone and Android
Wordsicle keeps almost nothing about you, and what it does keep you can delete yourself, in the app, in seconds. No email, no form, no waiting.
What Wordsicle holds, and where
- On your phone only: your boards, scores, streak, badges and settings. Wordsicle never sees these. Deleting the app deletes them.
- On the leaderboard server, only if you joined the leaderboard: the name you picked, your daily scores, solve times, whether Hard Mode counted, and the finished boards, all filed under a random player ID the app made up. No email, no phone number, no account.
- In your own Apple or Google account: a backup copy of your daily history (iCloud on iPhone, Android Backup on Android), so a reinstall keeps your streak. Apple or Google hold it under their terms; Wordsicle cannot read it.
Delete your leaderboard data
- Open Wordsicle and tap the ··· button at the top right to open Settings.
- Find the Leaderboard section.
- Tap Remove My Scores and confirm.
That deletes your name and every score and board you ever posted from the server, immediately and permanently. Nothing is kept, and there is no retention period. The only thing that remains is a salted hash of the network address each submission came from, used for flood control; it cannot be turned back into an address or linked to you.
If you only want to stop sending and keep what's there, turn the Leaderboard toggle off instead.
Delete everything else
Delete the app. Your local boards, streak and settings go with it. To remove the backup copy too, delete Wordsicle's data from iCloud (iPhone: Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage) or from your Google account's backups (Android: Settings → Google → Backup), or just leave it: it is yours, it is only ever read back by a fresh install of Wordsicle on your own account, and Wordsicle itself never sees it.
Deleted the app first?
If you removed the app before removing your scores, reinstall it on the same phone, open Settings, and tap Remove My Scores. The reinstalled app picks up the same player ID from your backup, so the button still finds your data. If that isn't possible, email support@wordsicle.com with the leaderboard name you used and we'll delete it by hand.
Android waitlist
If you joined the Android waitlist on this site, the email address you entered is deleted once the launch announcement has gone out. To have it removed sooner, email support@wordsicle.com from that address.
